Speaker of Council, Cllr Mncedi Ndzwanana, attends King Silamba-Komjekejeke Annual Commemoration Day and elaborates on the significant role of traditional leaders

The Speaker of Council, Cllr Mncedi Ndzwanana, attended the King Silamba-Komjekejeke Annual Commemoration Day on Saturday, 2 March 2024, at Komjekejeke.

Cllr Ndzwanana spoke about the important role that traditional leaders play in communities and the impact of King Silamba.

“On this day, we are coming together as Africans to celebrate and pay tribute to the heroes and heroines, in the main King Silamba, who brought about peace during the skirmishes over the land issue,” said Cllr Ndzwanana.

This prestigious occasion also marked the 44th anniversary celebration and 131 years since the passing of King Silamba.

In his address, the Speaker reiterated his support for the annual commemoration and said that Komjekejeke remains a special and important place to the people of Tshwane and the nation.

“We celebrate and appreciate cultural diversity, and through such celebrations and commemorations, we can pause for a moment and reflect and appreciate our diversity as Abantu. From the Office of the Speaker, we remain committed to being part of this event, and we will continue to provide necessary support,” Cllr Ndzwanana said.
