Residents of Soshanguve South Ext 4 receive their title deeds

The MMC for Human Settlements in the City of Tshwane, Cllr Ofentse Madzebatela, together with Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development, Lebohang Maile, handed out 580 title deeds to deserving beneficiaries in Soshanguve South Ext 4. The title deeds were handed to beneficiaries on Friday, 1 March 2024.

Cllr Madzebatela indicated that the initiative is a crucial aspect of the City’s commitment to prioritising residents in service delivery, ensuring that they fulfil the promises made to the community.

Normally, title deeds are handed over to beneficiaries upon the completion of new settlements. However, in cases where settlements were completed many years ago, municipalities face challenges like beneficiaries changing their contact details, no longer residing in the city or selling their houses informally. This creates challenges and leads to a backlog of uncollected title deeds.

“As a City, we maintain our commitment to positioning our human settlements programmes as catalysts for significant economic growth,” said Cllr Madzebatela. According to Cllr Madzebatela, the City will continue its collaboration with the Provincial Government to unlock opportunities through the City’s human settlements programmes.

The City remains committed to positioning its Human Settlement programmes as catalysts for meaningful economic growth and to help restore dignity to residents.

The City therefore urges all Tshwane residents who have not yet claimed their title deeds to check with their nearest Regional Office and collect their title deeds. It is crucial for beneficiaries to claim their title deeds, as this will assist qualifying beneficiaries to formalise their ownership and provide them with security of tenure.
