The Speaker of Council, Cllr Mncedi Ndzwanana, invites residents of Wards 44; 46; 47; 50; 65; 89; 91; 98 and 101 to participate in the special elections of ward committees in terms of Section 3(6) of the Ward Committee By-law which enjoins the Speaker of Council to call for a special election if less than six members are elected to a ward committee.
The purpose of the special elections is to fill at least the difference between the six seats and the seats filled by the duly elected ward committee members, which special elections must be held as determined by the Independent Electoral Management Body. Residents who have successfully been nominated during the initial nomination process do not need to be re-nominated.
Nominations for the special elections can only be done physically.
Physical nomination forms can be hand-delivered to regional drop-off centres.
