MMC for Housing and Human Settlements
As MMC for Housing and Human Settlements, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the officials from the Human Settlements Department who successfully completed the Executive Housing Policy Course in collaboration with the Tshwane University of Technology.
This achievement is not just a milestone for the individuals involved but a significant step forward for our entire city.
The course, tailored to meet the needs of the City’s housing expertise, focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of housing policy frameworks, macro- and micro-economic considerations and the broader human settlements sector. It equipped attendees with the tools to address complex challenges in housing delivery and fostered innovative, sustainable solutions.
As a department, we acknowledge that human settlements go beyond providing housing; they encompass integrated services, such as water, energy, transportation and socio-economic opportunities. This course represents a critical step in equipping our officials to address the housing backlog and spatial inequalities in Tshwane while fostering long-term transformation.
To the officials who completed this course, you are now empowered with the knowledge to drive meaningful change in our communities. We rely on you to implement what you have learned, ensuring more effective service delivery and contributing to the City’s key performance areas.
Furthermore, I would like to express gratitude to the Tshwane University of Technology and the Tshwane Leadership and Management Academy for developing a course that aligns with the City’s strategic goals.
This initiative underscores the City’s commitment to fostering a skilled and knowledgeable workforce capable of addressing Tshwane’s unique housing challenges. This initiative forms part of the City’s broader vision to create inclusive, accessible and sustainable human settlements that align with the National Development Plan’s objectives.
We look forward to continuing this programme in the upcoming financial year, further strengthening our capabilities and commitment to sustainable human settlements.
