MMC Maluleka is proud to announce the issuing of title deeds to beneficiaries in Ward
37 and 39. This initiative underscores the City’s commitment to providing security of
tenure and empowering residents through property ownership. This occasion marks a
significant step towards empowering community members and fostering economic
growth through secure homeownership.
Forty-two (42) title deeds were handed over to qualifying residents. The title deeds
provide legal recognition of homeownership, enabling residents to access housing
subsidies, secure loans, and transfer property to their families. This initiative is part of
a broader effort to address historical inequalities and promote equitable access to land
and housing.
“The handover of title deeds is a true demonstration of our commitment to protect the
property rights of housing beneficiaries,” said MMC Maluleka. “We recognise the
importance of giving ownership rights to beneficiaries, as it not only returns dignity to
our communities but also gives power to individuals by providing security of tenure
and a legacy for future generations”.
Councillor Ntola and Councillor Baloyi have also emphasised to members of their
communities to keep their title deeds safe. Receiving a title deed is a powerful
affirmation of an individual’s rights and status. It restores dignity and self-esteem to
beneficiaries, allowing them to feel recognised as legitimate property owners. This
acknowledgment contributes to a stronger sense of identity and pride within the
community.
The City of Tshwane urges residents who have not yet claimed their title deeds to visit
their regional offices to enquire about the status of their deeds. MMC Maluleka and
the City’s Human Settlements Department are dedicated to accelerating efforts to
address challenges in human settlement projects and ensure the delivery of safe and
dignified housing opportunities for all communities in Tshwane.
