On Saturday, 10 May 2025, the Office of the Speaker hosted ward committee workshops for all ward committee members and councillors throughout the seven regions of Tshwane.
The programme is designed to equip ward committee members with the necessary skills to remain efficient and productive while executing their functions and duties within their respective portfolio structures.
Participants were encouraged to apply participatory methods, techniques and tools that allowed t
hem to practically engage with the knowledge and skills acquired during training. These approaches aim to ensure that all ward committee members are actively involved, well informed and empowered to contribute meaningfully.
Ward committees promote community participation in local governance by serving as advisory bodies on issues affecting their wards. The Ward Committee Skills Development Programme consists of comprehensive modules, which will be delivered through ongoing workshops and training activities.
