DA’s Randall Williams re-elected as the Executive Mayor of Tshwane

Alderman Randall Williams of the Democratic Alliance (DA) has retained his position as the Executive Mayor of Tshwane. He was re-elected unopposed for the second term as the Executive Mayor of Tshwane when the new Council was inaugurated on Tuesday, 23 November 2021.

In his inaugural speech, the newly re-elected Executive Mayor called on political parties to work together to deliver services to the residents of Tshwane. Alderman Williams thanked all Tshwane residents who voted in the local government elections that were held on 1 November 2021.

He made an appeal to elected councillors to place the interests of Tshwane residents first and to strive to ensure that they adhere to the highest level of excellence in the work that they do in the City. He indicated that leading Tshwane into a prosperous future is only possible if political parties can overcome their political differences and place the interests of residents as their top priority.

Alderman Katlego Mathebe and Alderman Christo van den Heever, both from the DA, also retained their positions as Speaker and Chief Whip, respectively. Their nominations were also uncontested.

Alderman Randall Williams concluded his acceptance speech by saying, “Let us build our city together so that we ensure a prosperous future for generations to come.”

The Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs) will be announced in due course.
