The contracting of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) applicants has started across all seven regions of Tshwane following our recruitment drive in July and August 2022 wherein 3 302 participants were selected through the fair and transparent lottery selection process.
Recently, in my capacity as MMC for Social Development and Community Services, I visited one of the contracting sites at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve, Region 1. My visit served to ensure that the process runs smoothly and that we follow through on our mission for EPWP job opportunities to alleviate poverty in Tshwane.
During the visit, I observed a chronological process whereby EPWP officials assisted applicants in a timely and professional manner in signing their contracts while assisting hopefuls with information to apply for future opportunities.
The City also invited South African banks to assist applicants without bank accounts to acquire one. First National Bank honoured this invitation and we are grateful for their assistance in opening new accounts for applicants.
The City of Tshwane multiparty coalition government remains committed to providing employment opportunities under the EPWP to all our residents who meet the criteria. Our selection process is fair and transparent with no nepotism or any other form of interference.
