City of Tshwane dismisses revenue agent vacancy scam

The City has taken note of a misleading message that is making the rounds on social media, email and various applications which invites jobless people to fill vacancies as revenue agents.

This false communication, which recently came to the City’s attention, calls on members of the community to take up 80 available posts on a six-month fixed-term contract, for which they will be remunerated R6 000 to assist in revenue collection, delivery of disconnection notices and other duties.

The public is cautioned not to fall for this scam, as no such advertisement has been issued by the City. The objective of this scam is to swindle desperate individuals out of their hard-earned money.

We wish to warn those who are peddling such false information that they will be arrested, charged and prosecuted, as their actions border on criminality.
