WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION (MAGALIES WATER – KLIPDRIFT SUPPLY SCHEME)

Magalies Water notified the City of Tshwane that two of their four raw water pumps of their Klipdrift Supply Scheme have been damaged due to the recent torrential rains, which resulted in localised flooding in the Pienaars River. Debris and rocks were sucked in by the pumps and subsequently damaged the pumps.

The plant is operating at 80% of its design capacity. The pumps will be returned to service in eight weeks’ time and, until then, Magalies Water will be rationing water to its consumers to ensure equitable supply.

The City of Tshwane sincerely apologises for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the above-mentioned repairs. The City encourages consumers to use water sparingly during this period in order to prevent prolonged water supply interruptions.
