City of Tshwane Indigent Programme review necessary to ensure service delivery to the most vulnerable groups

As MMC for Community and Social Development Services, I have taken note of calls and messages of concern from residents regarding the City of Tshwane Indigent Programme.

The Indigent Programme Policy is currently under review to ensure that the City continues to provide better services to indigent families, while also ensuring that City finances are managed efficiently to carry out our mandate of providing comprehensive services to all Tshwane residents.

The current review is focused on the entire process, from registration and data-capturing capacity to benefits and how residents can access these.

The City is engaging in research to benchmark with other metros with the intention to discover the best way to service the residents of Tshwane and effectively manage the pipeline of finances to keep the Indigent Programme on track for qualifying beneficiaries.

Our multiparty coalition government is committed to continuing  offering an indigent support programme to assist residents who are unable to pay for municipal services and to help alleviate poverty.

The City of Tshwane  fully supports the Indigent Programme  and we want to ensure that residents are kept abreast of any changes regarding our social support programme.
