Media statement 23 April 2024
Cllr Nasiphi Moya
Deputy Mayor
Community and Social Development Services
The City of Tshwane is calling on all participants of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) to ensure that their contact and physical address information is up to date with the City.
In the recent selection process, which used a lottery system, the City identified 8 000 participants for this year’s intake. However, during the contracting period that took place from 5 to 18 March 2024, it was discovered that over 4 000 participants could not be reached due to outdated contact details, particularly changes in cell phone numbers.
To rectify this issue and ensure that all selected EPWP participants can fully benefit from the programme, the City of Tshwane urges individuals to verify and update their contact information. Participants are encouraged to visit our offices located at Sammy Marks Square, 138 Church Street, Pretoria Central to provide the necessary updates.
Furthermore, the Community and Social Development Services Department will conduct an intensive outreach programme to assist participants to update their contact details and complete any necessary registrations.
The City of Tshwane emphasises the importance of accurate contact information to facilitate effective participation in the EPWP and encourages all participants to take action swiftly.
Other community members interested in taking part can also register via the City’s EPWP USSD service. From any mobile device, interested and unemployed Tshwane community members can simply dial *120*5757# and select Option 1, then follow the prompts to register.
