The residents of Bronkhorstspruit and nearby areas are informed about an interruption of operations at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant.
The said plant has been operating at very low capacity over the last three weeks as a result of equipment failure at the raw water pump station and unforeseen power outages. These challenges have affected the plant negatively and resulted in a low capacity of water produced at the plant.
Repair work is currently underway, however, delays to complete the work are being experienced due to the lead time required to source some of the spares and materials from suppliers.
Meanwhile, the plant is also experiencing an electrical fault on the supply side which causes a trip at the raw water pump station. The plant is currently non-operational.
The City’s technicians are busy investigating the fault point on the network with a view to restoring the electricity supply and ultimately resuming operations. The estimated time of repair is currently unknown.
The City has arranged roaming water tankers for the following affected areas:
- Bronkhorstbaai
- Bronkhorstspruit Town
- Cultural Park
- Ekandustria
- Ekangala
- Masada
- Rethabiseng
- Riamarpark
- Thembisile Hani Local Municipality
- Zithobeni
The City of Tshwane apologises for the interruption and commits to address the mentioned challenges as soon as possible.
