The electricity supply to residents and businesses supplied by the Wapadrand 132/11 kV substation will be interrupted during January 2026 due to scheduled construction and upgrading work at the substation.
The work forms part of the City of Tshwane Energy and Electricity Business Unit ongoing infrastructure renewal programme aimed at improving network reliability, capacity and long-term security of electricity supply.
Due to the nature of the construction and upgrade activities, electricity supply will be interrupted in phases as follows:
- Phase 1 – Transformer R: For three days, from Tuesday, 6 January 2026, to Thursday, 8 January 2026
- Phase 2 – Transformer B: For three days, from Tuesday, 27 January 2026, to Thursday, 29 January 2026
The six-hour interruption will occur daily during working hours, from 09:00 to 15:00, for the duration of each phase.
Once work is underway, the following areas and businesses supplied by Wapadrand Substation will be affected during the construction period:
- Equestria
- Faerie Glen
- Lombardy
- Silver Lakes
- Six Fountains
- Wapadrand supply areas
Customers are advised to treat all electricity supply points as live at all times.
