Let us come together to celebrate our diversity and unique cultures on Heritage Day

The City of Tshwane Community and Social Development Services Department would like to encourage residents to recognise and celebrate Heritage Day on 24 September 2022.

Heritage Day is a decidedly unique and special public holiday for our country and it serves us with an opportunity to celebrate our diverse cultures, traditions and languages. Along with celebrations, Heritage Day plays a significant role in creating a sense of unity in our diversity by giving us a strong multicultural South African identity that we can all be proud of.

So, for Heritage Day I would like to encourage you to display your heritage in your various attires and customs.

I would also like to invite you to visit our cultural and natural heritage offerings in Tshwane, which include museums, heritage sites, monuments and nature reserves.  Please use #Myheritage for your social media pictures and content, and do not forget to tag the City’s social media pages.

On the actual day, Saturday 24 September 2022, the City will proudly host the Gauteng Heritage Carnival with the Honourable President Cyril Ramaphosa delivering a keynote address at the Union Buildings. We therefore encourage Tshwane residents to join the carnival to celebrate our unity and cultural diversity.
