Update: Rand Water supply challenges in eastern parts of Tshwane

The City of Tshwane wishes to inform its residents, mostly in the eastern parts of the city, that since Rand Water opened the supply from its reservoir earlier today, there is gradual flow into our reservoirs.

Affected residents were left without water following a decrease and, in some instances, a depletion of water levels to the City’s reservoirs.

As stated by Rand Water, subsequent to the repairs to the flooded Engine Room 3 of the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant, there were slight delays before pumping could regain full capacity.

Residents are informed that high-lying reservoirs will be the last to receive water and recover to acceptable levels.

The current reservoir levels are as follows:

  • Mooikloof Reservoir (empty): Supplies Mooikloof
  • Grootfontein Reservoir (empty): Supplies Grootfontein, The Hills and surrounding areas
  • Carina Street Reservoirs (57%, 55% and 52%): Supplies Waterkloof Ridge
  • Monumentpark Tower (empty): Supplies the high-lying areas of Monumentpark
  • Garsfontein Reservoirs (24% and 27%): The holding reservoir in the east
  • Parkmore HL Reservoir (15%): Supplies the high-lying areas of Menlyn, Garsfontein and surrounding areas
  • Heights Reservoir (critically low at 11%): The holding reservoir and supplies Pretoria West areas, including the Moot

Residents are urged to continue being prudent when using water.
