Repairs at Hillcrest Swimming Pool kick off to bring the facility up to standard

Repair work at Hillcrest Swimming Pool is underway to bring it up to an acceptable standard. The pool had to be temporarily closed to allow the City to properly address and repair issues at the facility.

Three contractors have been appointed and the repair works commenced on 25 May 2023. An estimated time of repair is not yet available, but once the maintenance work is complete, Hillcrest Swimming Pool will open again for all to use.

Residents are cautioned that for as long as load-shedding remains, the heaters will not be able to run on a 24/7 basis and, as a result, the issue that will remain after the completion of the maintenance work is keeping the temperature at or above 25 °C, especially during the winter months.

In this regard, the temperature may not always be warm, but as long as the temperature does not fall below 18 °C, the facility may remain open.

Hillcrest Swimming Pool is an important facility in Tshwane and therefore we must all work together to ensure that it is properly managed and maintained.

As the MMC responsible for Regional Operations and Coordination, I will continuously monitor the repair work and the facility itself, to ensure that challenges leading to its current closure are not experienced again.

The City would like to thank residents for their patience during this period as maintenance work gets underway.
