City of Tshwane visits various Tshwane communities to celebrate Mandela Day

The Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Cllr Cilliers Brink, joined the global community to commemorate Mandela Day on Tuesday, 18 July 2023.

Members of the Mayoral Committee visited Tshwane communities to celebrate this Mandela Day. Despite all the City’s challenges, the City recognises the honour of the life and legacy of former president Nelson Mandela and assists the government in delivering social services.

The City planted 67 Spekboom plants in aiming to turn Tshwane green and create healthy living spaces, and had a fruitful engagement with residents. The City also donated 10 000 school shoes to various primary schools in Tshwane in partnership with Spar. The City donated a few items to over 100 elderly residents at Pat-Rico Old Age Home in Hammanskraal.

The City joined the Tshwane Leadership Foundation at Burgers Park in the Pretoria CBD, which supports vulnerable groups and people in need of assistance, such as woman and girls, the elderly, children, youths and the homeless community in the Pretoria CBD.

The City encourages a continuation to support Mandela Day activities and to give back to their Tshwane residents in whatever way or form they can.
