Tshwane Mayor encourages residents to register to vote this weekend

Media statement                                                                                       16 November 2023

Cllr Cilliers Brink

Executive Mayor of Tshwane

The City of Tshwane encourages residents to make use of this voter registration weekend to register to vote in the upcoming 2024 provincial and national elections.

This weekend, 18 and 19 November 2023, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will conduct a voter registration campaign at its 22 300 voting stations countrywide in preparation for the important 2024 provincial and national elections.

To register, voters will need to bring a valid identity document, which may be a smart identity card, green barcoded identity book or a temporary identity certificate.

Registrations and verifications can also be done online at   https://registertovote.elections.org.za.

I would like to remind people who recently moved to our city that it is essential to note that you need to register in the area you live. Therefore, if you have moved to Tshwane since the last election, you must register your new address.

I also want to appeal to the youth and those who have never voted before to go and register at their local stations. This is important because you can only vote where you are registered.

This election is the one that can make an enormous difference to turn the tide in our country. With your support, we can overcome the most difficult challenges and secure a bright future for our nation.

Do not miss this important opportunity to make a difference in our country.
