Possible water interruption to affect Queenswood East and West Reservoirs

On Tuesday, 19 March 2024, the City of Tshwane Water and Sanitation Department will install a special pipe on the main bulk pipeline which supplies the Queenswood East and West Reservoirs.

The affected reservoirs will be filled prior to the planned shutdown. Although an interruption to the water supply will be avoided at all costs, it may occur for 12 hours from 09:00 until 21:00 in the following areas:

  • Colbyn
  • Deerness
  • Koedoespoort
  • Koedoespoort 325-JR
  • Môregloed
  • Queenswood
  • Rietfontein
  • Rietfontein 321-JR
  • Rietondale
  • Villieria
  • Waverley
  • Wonderboom South

Residents are urged to continue to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

  • Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
  • Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
  • Do not fill swimming pools.
  • Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
  • Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
  • Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
  • Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
  • Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
  • Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
  • Take a short shower rather than a bath.
  • Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
  • Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.

Residents are urged to continue using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed.

Residents are further urged to report water leaks, burst pipes and all incidents where water is wasted on the following numbers:
