Fort Klapperkop was the third fort erected before the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War (1899–1902) to protect the capital. The fort has been restored historically correctly and arranged as a museum, with permanent exhibitions of Anglo-Boer War objects and furniture. Apart from the museum, the fort also houses a stable complex, picnic areas, an old steam locomotive which was used during the Anglo-Boer War, the last tram used in Pretoria and a commemorative war statue – Troepie statue. Guided tours are conducted via external tour guides. The Manschappen Hall may be booked for seminars or meetings and the site for special functions.
