Derdepoort Recreation Resort is 89 hectares in area. The resort is situated in the third gateway in the Magaliesberg. The first house of assembly was established on the farm of Derdepoort on 22 May 1849. The original owner of the farm was Hans Wolmarans, who is buried next to the farmhouse (now known as Die Opstal restaurant).
