Bronkhorstspruit Nature Reserve

‘Bronkies’, as the locals call it, is the ideal getaway for water sport, fishing and birding in the vicinity of Johannesburg and Pretoria. Bronkhorstspruit Dam, a haven for all types of water activities, was established in 1950 and holds 58,5 million cubic metres of water. Bronkhorstspruit Nature Reserve has been under City of Tshwane management since July 2011. The reserve is situated on the southern edge of the dam. Sunsets in the reserve are a wonderful spectacle and compensate for the immediate vicinity of the dam which is somewhat devoid of trees.
