Chamberlain Bird Sanctuary is a two-hectare park situated in Pretoria. Visitors can enjoy a day surrounded by natural scenic beauty as they spot several birds flitting about in the trees.

Spend the day exploring the park, having a picnic in the greenery or hanging out in the bird hide.

Birds you can expect to see include the helmeted guineafowl, southern red bishop, southern masked weaver, thick-billed weaver, tawny-flanked prinia, arrow-marked babbler, streaky-headed seedeater, Ovambo sparrow hawk, brown-hooded kingfisher, Karoo thrush, common mina, Cape turtledove, laughing dove, rock pigeon and speckled mouse bird.

The key can be collected from the retirement home on the corner of Rose and Kieser Street.

Directions

From Soutpansberg Road, turn northwards in Parker Street, and then left in Rose Street. The sanctuary is on the corner of Rose and Kieser Street.

Should you wish to visit the sanctuary, you will need to collect the key from Chamberlain hardware store around the corner and arrange with the nature conservationists to open the bird hide during your visit.
