Tshwane Women in Sport Awards

The Tshwane Sports Confederation is working closely with its stakeholders and partners, the City of Tshwane, Spar, the University of Pretoria and Future Africa to prepare for the Tshwane Women in Sport Awards. This is the third annual Tshwane Women in Sport Awards, and it will take place on 2 June 2023 at Future Africa at the University of Pretoria. The Tshwane Women in Sport Awards is an annual event where the Tshwane Sports Confederation celebrates the talent, contribution and dedication displayed by women in sport.

The Tshwane Women in Sport Awards will give recognition to women and girls in Tshwane who are achievers in sport. It will recognise the hard work and commitment of the athletes’ participation in sport, on and off the field, and, more specifically, the development of sport at the grassroots level and the management of sport in club and federation structures, not only in Tshwane, but also in South Africa and around the world.

This year, the Tshwane Sports Confederation intends to not only acknowledge and celebrate the glory but also the sacrifices of our women in sport, as well as to recognise the inspirational power which our women have positively changed the lives of many by means of their strengths, abilities and contribution to sport, thus giving hope for a better future.

Nominations for the Tshwane Women in Sport Awards are now open and will close on 5 June 2023.

The following categories will be considered for the awards:

• Sportswoman of the Year
• Sportswoman with a Disability of the Year
• Most Promising Athlete of the Year
• School Sport Athlete of the Year
• Sports Team of the Year
• Sports Team with a Disability of the Year
• Most Promising Team of the Year
• Coach of the Year: Individual Sport
• Coach of the Year: Team Sport
• Administrator of the Year
• Technical Official of the Year
• Game Changer of the Year (a person who leads by example)
• Community-based Sport and Recreation Programme of the Year (non-profit organisation or non-governmental organisation)
• Sponsor of the Year

The following categories are applicable to print media, radio and television in Tshwane:

• Sports Journalist of the Year
• Sports Programme of the Year
• Community Media of the Year
• Amateur Photographer of the Year: Best Action Photo

Special awards include the following:

• Presidential Awards (nominees are determined by the president of the Tshwane Sports Confederation)
• MMC Special Sports Awards (the nominees and winner will be determined by the MMC for Community and Social Development Services)
