620x300 PLASTIC SLEEPING MATS

Recycled sleeping mat project

The City of Tshwane invites members of the community and organised structures to partner and participate in a recycling project to produce sleeping mats for the homeless.

Our goal is to recycle plastic bags and weave sleeping mats for the homeless. Our aim is to reduce waste, create awareness of our surroundings and provide for the community.

These portable sleeping mats will be ideal to travel with and keep the homeless community warm. Make one mat and make a difference, not just to a person but to the environment as well.

Any size is welcome and can be handed in and registered at Melrose House Museum, 280 Scheiding Street, Pretoria before 30 June 2023. The date of distribution and handover to the homeless will be officially announced.

The project is an initiative from Melrose House Museum and the Imbewu Community Organisation from Ekangala.
