City of Tshwane Expanded Public Works Programme recruitment process is transparent, fair and free from corruption and nepotism

I would like to use this opportunity to reassure residents that the City of Tshwane Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) recruitment drive is a corruption-free process that works independently using artificial intelligence to electronically select applicants from the database.

EPWP is one of the City’s key programmes in the fight against poverty and unemployment. This makes it crucial that the programme becomes transparent to give all eligible applicants a fair chance.

During the recruitment process, the City uses an electronic lottery system that randomly selects jobseekers from our EPWP database.

This is fundamentally different to how the process occurred before 2016 when the recruitment was politically driven without any form of transparency or fairness.

Furthermore, we would like to caution residents to not believe any political formations that promise them priority status when completing EPWP application forms.

The days of EPWP opportunities being handed out to hand-picked beneficiaries for political gains and other reasons are over.

The City of Tshwane EPWP recruitment policy is aligned with our multiparty coalition government values of fairness and transparency. It is important that we deliver on our promise of running a clean administration.
