City of Tshwane job interview scam

The City of Tshwane is dismayed after discovering a notice circulating through various platforms about a bogus invitation to an interview for an administrative clerk vacancy in the City.

According to the notice, applicants are invited to interviews for an administrative clerk position tomorrow, 28 June 2023, at 10:30. Applicants are further promised to be remunerated between R22 750 and R35 000 per month for the said position.

The notice (message) is devoid of any truth as the City only advertises vacant posts in newspapers and on the Job Forum page of its website, www.tshwane.gov.za.

Individuals who are shortlisted for interviews are phoned directly and receive a formal letter inviting them to an interview.

We urge the public to ignore the message, as it is a scam. The City is appalled at scammers who prey on the emotions of unsuspecting jobseekers by manufacturing information about the existence of job vacancies and inviting them to interview. We suspect that the aim of the scammers is to con vulnerable community members who are desperate for jobs.

We wish to warn those who are peddling such false information that they will be arrested, charged and prosecuted, as their actions border on criminality. We request the public to contact the Tshwane Metro Police Department on 083 657 2998 whenever they come across such “job advertisements” that are issued outside the norms and procedures of the City’s processes.

Below is the false invitation being circulated that must be ignored:
