Parts of Centurion, south of Pretoria, are experiencing a power outage following smoke that was detected last night at the NIVS Substation.
The City’s technicians managed to swiftly restore the power supply to the larger part of Eco Park, which was affected.
However, some of the NIVS Substation supply areas, which include Southdowns Estate, part of Highveld, the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and Southdowns Shopping Centre businesses, are still affected by the blackout.
This outage is affecting approximately 2 000 residents, excluding businesses.
Repairs are continuing with a view to restoring the power supply to the outstanding areas.
The City apologises for the inconvenience caused and would like to plead for patience during this unplanned interruption period.
Residents will be kept abreast of developments.
