The City of Tshwane Roads and Transport Department recently had the honour of hosting a delegation of 12 distinguished representatives from the Maputo Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT).

The delegation’s visit was part of their fact-finding mission to gain valuable insights from the City of Tshwane’s Comprehensive Integrated Transport Plan (CITP) and the development of the A Re Yeng project, as they embark on their own ambitious Urban Mobility Project in the Maputo Metropolitan Area, aptly named MOVE Maputo.

The initiative intends to enhance mobility and accessibility along designated corridors within the Maputo Metropolitan Area. During their visit, they had the opportunity to engage in fruitful discussions and shared insights on integrated planning, implementation and sustainable management of Bus Rapid Transport systems.

The exchange of knowledge and experience demonstrates the City’s commitment to facilitating the growth and development of integrated public transport systems. I am positive that the sharing of our experiences and best practices is a testament to our dedication to improving urban mobility for our residents.

I believe that the platform to learn from neighbouring countries can create more inclusive and efficient public transport systems for our residents. The City remains committed to fostering collaboration with various parties to promote innovative solutions for urban mobility challenges. We will work collectively towards a more sustainable and accessible future for all.
