Executive Mayor of Tshwane drives new Urban Management Plan to improve service delivery across the City

Media statement                                                                                            23 January 2024

Cllr Cilliers Brink

Executive Mayor of Tshwane

Our new Urban Management Plan has reached all seven regions of Tshwane, driving core basic services with a special focus on key major routes, including public spaces such as parks and key buildings.

The urban management teams have hit the ground running this January, attending to core services such as cutting grass, patching potholes, marking roads, fixing street lights and clearing illegal dumping sites

  • In Tsamaya Avenue in Mamelodi, our teams put in a big effort to clear a massive illegal dumping site. On this issue, I want to call on the community to work with the City and stop littering. Let us keep Tshwane clean.
  • In Pinkie Street in Winterveld, the team recently painted road markings, repaired street lights, cut grass and attended to sewage issues.
  • General road maintenance and clean-up work was recently done in Lavender Road and Sefako Makgatho Drive in Pretoria North. Similar work was done in Nelson Mandela Drive in the Pretoria CBD.
  • In Region 4, the team conducted maintenance work, which includes cleaning up and cutting grass around schools in Rooihuiskraal and Olievenhoutbosch.

This January, I also had the opportunity to visit the Atteridgeville Customer Care Centre which faces structural challenges that affects both the staff and customers. I am pleased to report that, following my visit, work has begun to fix some of the challenges which will help to ensure that this centre runs optimally.

I would like to thank the staff at the Atteridgeville Customer Care Centre for their dedication and pushing through despite the challenges they are faced with.

Our administration remains committed to driving basic service delivery as a key foundation to build a City that works for all its people.
