Townlands Social Housing Project progressing well

Yesterday, in my capacity as MMC for Human Settlements, I conducted an oversight visit to the Townlands Social Housing Project in Marabastad, alongside the recently elected Deputy Mayor, Cllr Nasiphi Moya.

The oversight visit served to acquaint the Deputy Mayor with the progress made at the flagship development and pride of the City.

The Townlands Social Housing Project will be a game changer in the rental space as it is the largest social housing development in the country. The project is expected to be officially opened by the end of this financial year and will yield 1 200 rental units catering to low-earning individuals and providing them with dignified accommodation close to the Pretoria city centre.

Tenanting has progressed well in Phases 1 and 2. However, units are still available for rental. Applications will remain open until all units are filled.

The development is targeting South African residents earning between R1 850 and R22 000 who are 18 years or older, employed and/or self-employed, have clean credit records and are not under debt review.

Applications must be submitted to the Housing Company Tshwane offices located at SKG Tower Building (ABSA Building), 310 Pretorius Street, Pretoria CBD.

The City of Tshwane prides itself on creating liveable neighbourhoods and enabling residents to live near the city centre and economic opportunities.
