An exciting opportunity in remote pilot training for women at Wonderboom National Airport

Are you a woman and fascinated by drones and the possibilities they offer? Do you want to turn your passion for flying drones into a profession? If so, becoming a drone pilot could be a great career option for you!

As opportunities increase, many recreational drone pilots are looking to turn their hobby into a profession. Although the skills developed by flying small drones for fun are applicable to more complex jobs, many in the industry demand that commercial drone professionals receive formal training before they take on a full-time piloting career. FlyFofa, in partnership with Wonderboom National Airport, will facilitate a Remote Pilot Training Programme for 30 aspiring learners. FlyFofa is one of the aviation training schools housed at Wonderboom National Airport.

Firstly, it is important to understand the regulations for operating drones in South Africa. To become a drone pilot, you must undergo training from an approved drone training school. These schools offer theoretical and practical training on drone operations.

The remote pilot licence course is the initial licence required for a candidate to start his/her professional drone pilot career. The course is divided into three sections, namely theory, practical and skills test. The duration of the theory is six days and runs from Monday to Saturday, during which an in-house examination is completed as well. Once a candidate has completed the theory and examinations, the candidate will then move on to the practical flying element of the course. The practical flight house is three hours of actual flight time, which means the actual time that you fly the drone.
