Water supply interruption to affect Muckleneuk and nearby areas

On Saturday, 13 April 2024, the City of Tshwane’s team of plumbers will install an 80 mm water meter on a bulk pipeline in Muckleneuk, along Justice Mahommed Street.

This essential work is scheduled to last eight hours from 08:00 until 16:00 and will lead to a water supply interruption in the following areas:

  • Groenkloof
  • Muckleneuk
  • Nieuw Muckleneuk
  • Parts of Brooklyn (William, Mackenzie, Olivier, Nicolson and Marais Streets)

The City apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the water supply interruption.

Residents are urged to store enough water for household purposes during this period.

Residents are also urged to continue to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

  • Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
  • Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
  • Do not fill swimming pools.
  • Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
  • Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
  • Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
  • Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
  • Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
  • Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
  • Take a short shower rather than a bath.
  • Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
  • Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.

Residents are urged to continue using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed.

Residents are further urged to report water leaks, burst pipes and all incidents where water is wasted on the following numbers:
