General worker job scam

The City of Tshwane has taken note of a misleading message making the rounds on social media platforms, inviting jobseekers to apply for general worker vacancies in the metropolitan municipality.

This false advertisement invites unemployed members of the community with a minimum of a Grade 10 qualification to contact a certain human resources manager on the provided mobile number. It further indicates that no experience is needed for the positions and applicants must be available immediately.

The message is devoid of any truth, as the City only advertises its vacant posts in newspapers and on the Job Forum page of its website, www.tshwane.gov.za.

The public is cautioned not to fall for this scam, as no such notice was issued by the City. We also wish to warn these fake information peddlers that they will be arrested, charged and prosecuted, as their actions border on criminality.

Further, we advise the public to contact the Tshwane Metro Police Department on 012 358 7095/7096 whenever they come across “job advertisements’’ that are issued outside the norms and procedures of the City’s processes.
