City reschedules Muckleneuk water supply interruption

The City of Tshwane Water and Sanitation Department has rescheduled the water supply interruption in Muckleneuk which was planned for Saturday, 13 April 2024.

This essential work had to be put on hold due to an intervarsity sporting event that will take place on 13 April 2024 between 07:00 and 20:00 at the University of Pretoria Groenkloof Campus.

The water supply interruption is now going to take place on Sunday, 14 April 2024, from 08:00 to 16:00 for the installation of an 80 mm water meter along Justice Mahommed Street, Muckleneuk.

The said installation of the water meter will affect the following areas:

  • Groenkloof
  • Muckleneuk
  • Nieuw Muckleneuk
  • Parts of Brooklyn (William, Mackenzie, Olivier, Nicolson and Marais Street)

The City apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the water supply interruption.

Residents are urged to store enough water for household purposes during this period.

Residents are also urged to continue to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

  • Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
  • Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
  • Do not fill swimming pools.
  • Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
  • Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
  • Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
  • Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
  • Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
  • Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
  • Take a short shower rather than a bath.
  • Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
  • Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.

Residents are urged to continue using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed.
