The City of Tshwane Environment and Agriculture Management Department recently facilitated a successful virtual engagement to address critical issues related to waste management services rendered by the City, ranging from household waste collection, bulk services and alternative waste disposal methods.
The webinar also highlighted key waste priorities of the City as set out by the coalition government, which aims to keep Tshwane clean and protect the natural environment.
As part of our efforts to improve waste management, the City has made provision for larger 240 ℓ refuse bins for households and 1 100 ℓ bins for businesses. Residents can apply for these bins at their nearest municipal offices or via email to wastemanagement@tshwane.gov.za.
Residents are encouraged to recycle and repurpose items to reduce the amount of waste taken to landfills. It is important that we work together as the government, residents and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that we safeguard our environment and keep it clean.
We need to be conscious of environmental matters and the damage that is caused by humans. Therefore, we need to take individual responsibility to protect our environment through proper waste management and reducing illegal dumping.
The City would like to call on residents to assist us by reporting illegal dumping to the Tshwane Metro Police Department on 012 358 7095/7096.
We must work together to safeguard our environment and keep our city clean.
