The City of Tshwane is committed to addressing homelessness

As part of her efforts to remain directly involved in the City’s response to homelessness, Cllr Nasiphi Moya, Deputy Mayor, visited three homeless shelters in Regions 1 and 3 today, 16 February 2024.

The purpose of these visits was to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the homeless population and to acknowledge the commendable efforts made by the institutions involved in providing support.

During her visit, the Deputy Mayor was shown the core areas of the shelters and heard from shelter representatives about the shelters’ challenges, successes and opportunities.

Homeless persons are not only accommodated at these shelters but are also cared for and kept safe and healthy.

“I am highly grateful for the work being done at these shelters. We have a homelessness problem in our city. Our service industry who is lending a helping hand should be commended for their work,” said Cllr Moya. As a token of appreciation, the Deputy Mayor donated foodstuffs to the three shelters.
