Hammanskraal water provided through mobile tankers declared safe and up to standard following random tests

Media statement                                                                                            30 October 2023

Cllr Ofentse Madzebatela

MMC for Human Settlements

I am pleased to report that the sampled water carried through mobile water tankers in New Eersterus in Hammanskraal complies with the SANS241:2015 water standards and is safe to drink.

The City’s microbiologists in the Water and Sanitation Department’s Scientific Services Section conducted random unannounced tests on five mobile waters and their extraction points recently and published the results of the tests within the assured seven days.

The results came back with 100% compliance for applicable standards.

These microbiology tests checked foreign elements such as ammonia phosphate and nitrates and checked the PH levels of the water.

The tested mobile water tankers deliver water to the areas of Spin City, Trust Farm, Phophola, Phomolong, Hammanskraal Ext 2, Kanana, Nkandla, Chris Hani Block G, Kudube Unit 10, Hammanskraal Portion 9, New Eersterust Ext 8, Marikana and Soutpan.

The City is working on a long-term plan to have a tap in every household. While this process is underway, we will continue to conduct announced tests in all regions of Tshwane to ensure that our residents receive only the highest quality of water through mobile tankers.

I would like to thank the microbiologist team for their swift response and the diligent work they have done in eliminating fears of inferior water being provided to the public.

The provision of clean and quality water remains a priority of the multiparty government.
